Some people do it out of the goodness of their heart and to make themselves feel good about helping others. Sometimes it’s about finding a skills-based opportunity to build their resume. In other cases, it’s just to promote goodness and improve the overall quality of human life.
“It” is volunteering. There are myriad reasons why people choose to do so – and it has many positive benefits for the volunteer as well as the community they serve.
At Indian Valley Theatre, we are truly a community project. For more than three decades, we have operated solely on thousands of volunteer man hours. If you’re thinking of volunteering with us, we welcome you!
See, IVT is like one big family: There’s the “parents,” our original founding members, many whom are still involved to this day and give guidance. There’s our “brothers and sisters” the backbone of IVT who regularly jump into a variety of roles. Then of course there’s the “kids” who have been part of Summer Workshops throughout our history. And there’s always crazy “Uncle Joe” — the one member of the family with whom everyone makes pleasantries and then avoids like the plague (we’re still not sure what to do with him after all these years).
Many times throughout the year, the IVT family of volunteers gather in the board room, backstage before a production, and in many other places. Like any family, these opportune times around the “dinner table” are where members bond with each other and share what is happening with IVT.
So how can you be part of our family of volunteers? Here’s just a few ways:
- Channel your inner “Bob Villa” through set design, build and tear down;
- Operate the stage lights;
- Satisfy your itch to audition and perform on stage – even produce or direct a show!
- Create costumes and gather props;
- Sell tickets at the box office; or
- Serve on the membership board
We’d love to see you become part of our volunteer family today. To do so, please fill out the form below and let us know how you would like to help!
