Indian Valley Theatre “DON’T HUG ME” – Cast Member Spotlight

The Minnesota love story “Don’t Hug Me,” will be presented by Indian Valley Theatre at the end of February at the historic Sandwich Opera House. It is directed by Sharon Pagoria and Matthew Johnson; written by Phil and Paul Olson; with Book and Lyrics by Phil Olson; Music by Paul Olson; and rights by Samuel French.

This week’s spotlight cast member will be Brian Pross, who is portraying the role of Kanute Gunderson, an oblivious, full of himself business owner who wants to buy the Bunyan Bay Bar and marry Bernice Lundstrom.

Brian auditioned for “Don’t Hug Me,” because “he likes the unique Northern Minnesota Bar setting and the quirky songs poking fun at tradition.”  Brian continues, “I find the character of Kanute interesting. He is a fun, clueless, small town hero…a football star…who thinks everyone needs HIM. Kanute believes he’s “a picture perfect man”. He has no humility or humbleness, a kind of a pompous villain, very unlike the true chauvinist man I really am”, he adds humorously.

Brian goes on to say that he “is enjoying working with the cast and crew because, they are fabulous” and adds that “this fun show is not to be missed! He would like everyone to come and join him so, “he is not singing alone!”

Brian is no newcomer to IVT or acting. He has appeared in Indian Valley Theatre productions of “Fox on the Fairway”, “Snoopy”, “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”, and others. He also recently reprised his role in “Fox on the Fairway” with the Morris Theatre Guild. He has worked behind the scenes working with various tech crews.

Brian Lives with his wife Laura and daughter in Yorkville and is a Global Metrology Manager at a Microelectronics company in Aurora. Brian’s hobbies include analyzing mosquitoes for future zombie pathogens.

Come meet Brian and all the other cast members of “Don’t Hug Me.”  Performances are Friday, February 24 at 7:30pm, Saturday, February 25 at 7:30pm and Sunday, February 26 at 2:00pm at the Historic Sandwich Opera House, 140 E Railroad St. in Sandwich, IL.
